Adios Sunday Blues

I used to work in a typical office job putting in between 10 to 14 hours a day.

At a certain point I decided to start my own business. This decision came with many upsides; setting my own schedule, being my own boss, having to attend less meetings. It also came with many downsides; setting my own schedule, being my own boss, having to attend less meetings. Many people say the grass is always greener, and while I may be trying to add some humor to this blog post I can honestly say starting my own business was one of the best decisions I ever made thus far.

I grew up with my parents running their own business, I knew what it took to work for yourself, and I knew I had what it took. There are pros and cons as with all things in life, and it isn’t for everyone. But whenever I am swapping working on a proposal or strategic plan at 11pm for getting to attend a noon yoga class, or taking a mid-week adventure with Zoe and getting to do a social media boot camp with a great group of people in a yurt, I take time to recognize how completely grateful I am for my job.

But as someone told me a while back “they call it work for a reason,” and when you run your own business the work is never done. While I was never someone who got a bad case of the Sunday Blues, every once in a while they would creep up. Now Zoe and I manage them together by getting into nature. One of our favorite ways? We get up early and hit the trail.

We work on sticks… in the middle of the trail.

We have some looking back to make sure we we’re staying close.

Zoe and I are nature girls and we agree that getting absorbed on the trails is the best way to spend any day, let alone a Sunday before a long week.

Together we say… Adios Sunday Blues!
