At the beginning of this year I started a 40 day yoga program with the studio I frequent regularly.
Back to my earliest memory as a child I have always woken up early eager for what the day might hold. I was never the teenager that slept until 10am, or even 8am, and even as I write this at 1am I will still get up at the same early time tomorrow. When I was a kid this meant being awake before anyone else in the house.
A couple days ago Zoe and I were walking on the beach and she found a tennis ball. Usually she just plays with it a bit and then drops it soon after, but this day she was very attached and even for the first time became protective of it when other dogs came around. My mind is always racing, several tracks always going at once… a client proposal due, an email I need to write, an upcoming dinner party, friendships that need tending to, the call to a relative I have yet to return. This happens at all times of the day, whether it is 2pm or 3 am. I think the universe, stars, or simply facts have been aligning lately because I am being given multiple chances to help my mind slow down.
